evaluation- question 5

5. How did you attract/address your audience?

I have used many different techniques to attract and address my audience, when I was deciding what techniques to use I refereed back to my audience profile and used certain things in my film to try and attract the type of people who would enjoy my film.

The film opening itself would draw the attention of the target audience. Riley holding a knife affects caused the audience to question them of what's going to happen next? Why is he doing that? Who was he talking to?

This links back to the generic conventions of a horror, the main of which is the build-up of suspense and making the audience feel uneasy and nervous.

The cliffhanger in our horror opening attracts the audience: once the boy has look up and his eyes are dark, with a knife in his hand. I think the audience would have originally the child to maybe hurt his mum with the knife, but he doesn’t. This increases suspense and makes the audience want to know what the next sequence of events would be, such as what the boy will do and who was he talking to and the consequences will be.

I also think that the nursery rhyme at the beginning on the film is attracting the audience too, as the tempo is quite slow so it creates tension. Nursery rhyme usually quite speedy and happy, but in my film it is slow and scary so its like stereotypical of horror.
